What started as a regional mechanical contractor has grown into a full-service firm with registered engineers, a sheetmetal fabrication shop, and craft technicians with up to 40 years of experience. The cumulative knowledge inside this building runs deep, and every client benefits from it.

Waldrop Mechanical History
A History of Success
Founded by Benny Waldrop in 1970 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Waldrop Mechanical Services started as Waldrop Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc.
In 2004, Benny welcomed Bill Caldwell, Dennis Pruitt, and Jamie Porterfield into leadership, successfully positioning the company for strategic growth.
By 2007, Waldrop Inc. had formed, growing into dedicated divisions for Heating & Air Conditioning and Mechanical Services.
Following Benny's retirement in 2011, ownership transitioned to Bill, Dennis, and Jamie.
Caldwell retires in 2020 and Waldrop Inc. shares are purchased 50/50 by Porterfield & Pruitt.
In 2021 Waldrop split into two independent privately held companies, Waldrop Inc owned by Dennis Pruitt and Waldrop Home Services Inc. owned by Jamie Porterfield. Waldrop Mechanical Services performing commercial work and Waldrop Plumbing – Heating – Air performing residential only.
Fifty-five years after founding Waldrop, Benny’s enduring belief that a company can be fair to its customers, employees and the business at the same time continues to be a guiding principle that defines our path forward.
